“Once Upon A Time” is a short film directed by Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld starring Keira Knightley as a young Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel. The black and white film tells the story of how Coco’s unknown hat shop in the French seaside resort town of Deauville in 1913 grew to one of the most recognizable fashion houses in the world.

When deciding a colorway for a shoe, the use of suede is so critical because of the material’s ability to hold most colors so extremely well. The full range that the hue is present within the leather, thanks to its beneath-the-surface depth. For this particular Nike Air Max 1, the different shades of purple work together to make it a neckbreaker if I ever saw one. The Air Max 1′s upper, like previously mentioned, is completely suede, held together with soft cotton laces. The white classic airbag-infused midsole makes the purple mudguard pop, while the greyish purple midsection and light purple detailing form an excellent contrasting look. A men’s runner in such a color is more of a ’80s-’90s look (especially when lighter/brighter, like this shoe’s toebox & swoosh), and it’s no secret that sometimes dudes are looking for the more feminine colors to make their kits pop. Regardless of your reasoning, this is a definite purchase for me, adding it to the rest of the must-haves. My advice to you? Prepare to be broke this summer. I have.
